Snr Systems Engineer - Product Development

Enigma People Solutions is recruiting a Senior Systems Engineer to join our international electronics client’s expanding product development group in Edinburgh, Scotland. Our client is recognised world-wide as providing state-of-the-art automotive power integrated circuits. You will become part of a product development group participating in the creation of power integrated circuits for predominantly automotive applications. Tasks will encompass many aspects of the semiconductor development process including specification definition through analysis/verification of prototype devices to support of field staff and customers.



  • Contributing to the definition of new semiconductor products.
  • Collaborating with silicon design engineers to ensure devices are compliant with requirements and to resolve issues arising during design.
  • Planning and execution of bench evaluation work on new products.
  • Developing product documentation such as datasheets, application notes, and training materials.
  • Participating in the development of in-house device evaluation and customer demonstration printed circuit boards (PCBs).
  • Supporting field staff and customers on technical issues arising on both developmental and released products.



  • Collaborate with other Systems Engineering staff across the company.
  • Coach less experienced Systems Engineers as required
  • Liaise with company Design, Product Test, Quality Assurance, Programme Management and Marketing Communications groups.
  • Support Field Applications Engineers and Sales/Marketing staff.
  • Directly assist customers as and when required.



Qualifications an Experience


  • Candidates must have at least an honours degree in electronic engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Hands on experience within a power electronics circuit/systems development or applications engineering environment.



  • Experience of interacting with customers on technical issues.


Skills, Knowledge and Aptitudes:

Any knowledge and experience in the following areas would be a distinct advantage:

  • Automotive product development (component or system level).
  • Functional safety (ISO 26262).
  • Semiconductor industry.
  • Circuit/system debug and fault-finding.


Candidates should also be able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to work efficiently both individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good spoken and written communication skills in English with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • A high level of commitment and self-motivation



Domestic (UK) and international (Europe, North America, Far East) travel may be required from time to time within this role.
