Enigma People Solutions is seeking a Manufacturing/ Automation Engineer. Our client is a small but dynamic high-tech company on a path of considerable growth and expansion with a growing list of international customers across the automotive and consumer electronics sectors. 

Our client has developed unique digitally controlled volume holographic mastering and replication technology which is used to produce precision engineered Holograms and Holographic Optical Elements (HOEs) in photopolymer film for mass market light guiding and transparent display applications. This technology is critical to the company’s growth and is now funded to further advance its core technology and prepare for production level supply of product into its primary market. 

You will be working with external equipment manufacturers to integrate the HOE Replication technology into a Roll to Roll full web width production line. The subsequent machine acceptance and production capability trials will also form part of this role. The successful candidate will be part of the Operations team reporting to the Operations Director.

Role Summary

We are looking for a Manufacturing/ Automation Engineer with Opto-mechanical experience to develop and scale its current pilot production manufacturing capability. The role will involve:

  • Development of high-volume automated production equipment for replication of Holograms and HOEs.
  • Specification design, and manufacture of pilot production line.
  • Integration of lasers, optics and vision systems into to a R2R manufacturing process
  • Develop manufacturing processes and SOPs for production equipment
  • Conduct machine capability trials ensuring equipment meets acceptance criteria
  • Develop procedures and methodology for handling thin film photosensitive material and processing in a high-volume production environment
  • Prepare FMEA and DFM reviews of production processes and manufacturing equipment
  • Work with external suppliers and partners to fulfill the development build and commission of new machinery and processes.
  • Process Improvement for existing pilot/ prototype production processes
  • Ensure that relevant projects and key milestones are delivered on-time by working through others.

Person Specification

Essential Skills

•       Minimum 5 years’ experience of working in a high-volume production environment.

•       Experience of working with Thin film photosensitive materials (or similar) and processing

•       Experience of working with optics, lasers and vision systems in an automated production environment.

•       Mechanical design of high-volume automated manufacturing equipment

•       Experience of developing manufacturing processes in comparable industry

Desirable Skills

•       Experience of Roll to Roll production equipment specification and control.

•       Knowledge of automotive PPAP process and ISO 16949

•       Experience of mechanical design - SolidWorks
