Enigma People Solutions is delighted to recruit an experienced Electronics Engineer for our client’s new Photonics Design Centre in central Scotland. New investment is allowing our client to build upon their significant progress already made on laser products for Quantum applications and optical transceivers for intra-satellite communications and will provide the resources and expertise to fully exploit these emerging and growing markets.

Your role will include but not be limited to:

  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team and be responsible for concept through design, simulation, PCB Layout, test verification, outsourced manufacturing and compliance of our laser electronic controller products.

  • Design electronic circuits and assemblies from concept to production, release and ongoing support.

  • Design and develop the associated control systems and instrumentation.

  • Debug, simulate and validate electronic and system designs.

  • Create user documentation.

  • Transferring design data sets to production for manufacturing and support during product lifecycle.

  • Manage suppliers and subcontractors related to electronic unit manufacturing.


To be of interest you will be able to demonstrate

  • Degree or above in Electronics Engineering.

  • Experience with Analogue Circuit Design, Sensors and Small Signal Conditioning, and Simulation

  • Knowledge of Digital, analogue and mixed circuit design experience

  • Experience with Electronics Control and Feedback Circuits and Power Supply Design

  • Capability for PCB Layout and design

  • Regulatory Compliance obligations (CE, LVD EMC) knowledge 

  • Experience using electronic lab equipment such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, lab PSUs and hands-on skills testing and debugging electronic assemblies.

  • Experience in Embedded Software programming. Understanding of FPGA/CLPD Firmware design VHDL, Verilog, Systems Verilog

  • Solid understanding of Python for data analysis and hardware integration (Pandas, Matplotlib, PyVisa, PySerial)

  • Knowledge of PowerApps and/or MySQL, LabVIEW, SciLab or related software skills preferred but not essential.

  • Laser Diode or Current Driver Circuit Design, Thermal Electric Cooler (TEC) Driver Circuit Design  knowledge preferred but not essential

  • Knowledge of high speed electronics preferred but not essential

  • Ability to work on your own and as a part of a team

  • Ability to set up and document processes and procedures and be hands-on.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
