Enigma People Solutions is seeking a Development Engineer. Our client is a small but dynamic high-tech company on a path of considerable growth and expansion with a growing list of international customers across the automotive and consumer electronics sectors. 

Our client has developed unique digitally controlled volume holographic mastering and replication technology which is used to produce precision engineered Holograms and Holographic Optical Elements (HOEs) in photopolymer film for mass market light guiding and transparent display applications. This technology is critical to the company’s growth and is now funded to further advance its core technology and prepare for production level supply of product into its primary market.

Role Summary

We are seeking a Development engineer to work on a variety of different areas within the company e.g. product design and optimisation, R&D, industrialisation, test, etc. This is a key role in the success of the company, where your progress will be visible and recognised. We are looking for Engineers with a good mixture of theoretical, design, and practical skills. If you’re comfortable working with laser beams and opto-mechanical systems, we’d like to hear from you. We will offer a comprehensive training programme and expose you to a variety of technical areas working with some of the best Engineers in the Country.

Typical responsibilities

Working with the engineering teams you will work on a range of projects, with typical responsibilities including:

  • Generating concepts for complex products, designing prototype systems and creating specifications
  • Developing and releasing new test methodologies
  • Further developing our Optical Printing Technology for HOEs
  • Optical and mechanical design of improved optical heads
  • Developing new and improved control methodology and systems

Desired skills and experience

  • Higher degree in Optics/Photonics (PhD, MSc, etc.) preferred, but not essential
  • Industrial experience as an optical engineer
  • Alternatively, post-doctoral experience in Optics/Photonics, with a desire to move into industrial applications
  • Strong practical skills. Can you turn a concept into a reality?
  • Additional experience in software, mechanical design, control systems, prototyping and product development is viewed favourably
