Embedded Firmware Senior Engineer

Enigma People Solutions is recruiting Firmware Engineers for a fun, fast growing, real world technology, ASIC design company. Our brilliant high growth client specialises in the design of customized ICs, continued business success means they are expanding their design team in Edinburgh and are moving into a new city centre location that will allow them to double the size of their current design team. These roles will suit experienced engineers that are happy to work in a flexible, fast paced design environment.

Job Overview:
The design team develops various application specific and customer centric designs using ARM Cortex-M based microcontrollers. You will join a small team of highly competent firmware engineers involved in the design, implementation and verification of firmware and software for embedded systems for automotive, medical and consumer applications. You will architect, design, implement and support firmware modules and sample applications to the lead customers. You will also support the IC design group development methodology and application engineering functions. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented and motivated firmware developer to join a growing and dynamic team of engineers who strive to solve real world problems.

Job Responsibilities: 
Responsible for design and development of custom Firmware package to support indie new products tape out. 
Support critical customer requirements by providing turn key SW packages 
Develop system (application) level concept that the customer can build upon.
Support on production milestones, demos and performance evaluation.
Provide expertise to ensure optimal HW/SW partitioning.
Perform tasks including on site debug, bring-up, demo and production firmware development
Report to chip lead on a project basis and senior management for daily work allocation.

To be of interest you will be able to demonstrate:
MS degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering or equivalent commercial experience.
Commercial experience in developing embedded firmware running on SOCs.
Experience with ARM Cortex M series and various development tools such as IAR J-Link, GCC and ARM Keil.
Demonstrated experience in new product development
Demonstrated experience with debug of active product issues and root cause analysis providing solutions and workarounds for customers.
Experienced with RTOS developments.
A good understanding of Bluetooth (both Classic and Low Energy) or IEEE 802.11 protocol standards is a plus.
Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g. Perl, Python, others).
Capable to lead Customer interface and support.
Multi-tasking across several projects in a small and highly competent team.
