Simulation Technical Team Lead

Enigma People Solutions is excited to be recruiting a Simulation Technical Team Lead for an outstanding, well funded, start up organisation that has the ambition to change the world. Building on proven and new technology our client is building a new team in Edinburgh that will optomise and commercialise an innovation set to change existing electricity grid architecture.
Our client is formed from the desire to solve global challenges facing our society and environment. Specifically, with innovation in deep tech, they are revolutionising energy distribution systems. 

Your Role 
A new R&D engineering team is being established to continue development of this project along with the existing core team. Simulation forms a core piece of all aspects of the R&D works, and as the 
technical leader of the simulation team you will be a key resource for all teams within the project. Reporting to the CTO you will manage the culture, providing assistance and direction through the 
design, testing and analysis process for the simulation team. You will also manage the technical development and support of all simulation environments over a number of different platforms.  

In this role you will:
Provide direction and leadership to all team members on research, requirements development and testing 
Deliver systems architecture design and integration of multiple software programs and simulation models
Maintain and support HPC infrastructure and design environments
Manage scope and schedule for simulation project
Facilitate research and development operations to enable optimum productivity for your team
Review and sign off on documentation including research papers, design documents, and test plans 
Interact with clients, partner companies and partner institutions 
Utilise Design by Rationalised Constraint 
Undertake lab based testing of systems against simulations and hardware devices
Provide support and assistance along with your team to the other R&D teams within the company
Work collaboration projects with partner universities in UK, US and Australia 
Key skills required:
Knowledge and experience with HPC and simulation packages such as ANSYS, Comsol, and Mathematica
Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of the application of systems engineering and systems design architecture
Engineering elegant solutions to allow processing of large amounts of data on tight timescales
Knowledge and understanding of electricity networks physics
Programming experience in multiple object-oriented or functional languages
Operating, database and industrial communications systems design and development
Static and dynamic simulation modelling and analysis
An understanding of agile practices 

Required Experience
BEng / BSc Degree in Electrical / Mechatronic / Systems Engineering, Computer Science,  
Mathematics, Physics or equivalent
Strong experience in related industry (or academic research) fields of electrical simulation 
and mathematical modelling
