New social enterprise will provide employment for those with Autism…


In March 2010, CEiS (Community Enterprise in Scotland) secured investment funding to develop a new, Glasgow-based social enterprise - Specialisterne Scotland. Based on a groundbreaking business model originated in Denmark, Specialisterne Scotland is focused on employing people with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as software testers. The National Autistic Society Scotland (NAS) estimates that, in Scotland, only 13% of adults with an autism spectrum disorder are in full-time employment.

Following introductions and initial discussions, Enigma was invited to formally pitch and submit a proposal on how it would source candidates for a position that the client believed would be difficult to fill: that of ‘General Manager’ of the Specialisterne Scotland office - a post requiring a highly unusual mix of skills and experience.
